Maine "The Way Life Should Be"

Hi, We made a day trip to Maine yesterday. Takes about two hours for us to drive there. We both love to go there, look at the ocean, eat some great seafood and hunt for sea glass. Not much found yesterday. We got there at low tide and saw lots of foot prints. I think it had been picked clean. Just found about three pieces. I'm posting some pictures. It was sunny and beautiful until we went out on the beach. The wind was so strong, it blew us up the beach.

The first two pictures are of the big bridge that you cross from New Hampshire into Maine. It's called the Piscataqua River Bridge.

We drove through the seaside town of York Village. There are beautiful old houses all over that town. Here are just a couple of them.

From there we went to York Harbor beach and here's the beautiful ocean.

We made our way up the coast to Long Sands beach and Nubble Light.

We went to Kennebunk to our favorite beach. It's called Parson's beach and was donated to the town for people to use for free. In the summer you have to get there early to find a parking place. This picture is the path to the beach and those bushes are covered with white and red rugosa roses in the summer. The fragrance is wonderful. They seem to love the salt air because they grow everywhere. It was low tide when we were there.

I've even got my husband into glass hunting. Although I think he would rather fish!

I visited Camp Wool while we were up there. It's a great wool shop with patterns, wool, all kinds of threads, needle punch, cross stitch supplies. So much to look at. Never enough time! Leann is the owner and she's
very helpful with your projects. She also has a room with antiques. What a fun place.

This is the town of Kennebunkport. Some pictures of the small shops and the pharmacy in the red building. Then we drove up Atlantic Ave. where President George Bush and his wife Barbara have there summer home. Sometimes you can see them outside in their yard but the secret service keeps an eye on everyone.

This is a big hotel that overlooks the ocean. Gorgeous!

The view across the street from that hotel.

A few pictures on our way to the Presidents house.

One of the houses on this street was used in the soap opera "Dark Shadows". It's an oldie cancelled a long time ago. They are working on the outside of it. I hope they don't change it too much. Here is the President's house called Walker Point. It's been in his family for a long time. I've heard when the flag is up he is there but we didn't see much going on there.

Well I guess it's back to reality. We did make reservations to spend a week in Wells Me. while we were there, so we will look forward to that.
Just one more picture. This is a very old cape in Cape Neddick built in the mid 1700's. We went through it with a realtor and decided it would take a fortune to restore it. But I loved it and we check on it when we go up there to watch the new buyers rehab. Looks great.

That's it. I'd better get some supper started. Thanks for going on my day away with me. Jan
