Last rug hooking class of 2011

Every month I look forward to going to rug hooking class at Sandy Miarecki's Woolen Memories. It is usually held the first Saturday of the month. We get together to see each others projects and get inspired to keep working on our own rugs or needlepunch. She has gorgeous wool and I'd like to have at least a yard of all of it. I thought I would show you a few pictures of our get together yesterday.

This is Sandy's shop in her home. The next picture is one of her Christmas rugs and then some of the girls hooking, talking, and having coffee and treats.

It was a lot of fun. Can't wait to finish up a few projects I've started and move on to something new.
How is your Christmas shopping going? I've finished the easy guy. He's three and loves everything he gets. Now on to the older kids. That takes some thought. I can't take the mall on the weekend so tomorrow is the day to finish up. Hope your Holiday plans are going well. Have a great day. Jan

Christmas just around the corner!

I've been out all day with friends shopping for just the right gifts for some of my family. The kids are getting older and it gets harder to think of something they might want. Oh for the days when we went to Toys R Us and picked out toys. Hate to just give gift cards but that may be the way I go. I've been hooking a small Santa mat. I usually try to give them something handmade but haven't found the time this year. After Christmas I have so many projects to finish. That will be my resolution for next year. I started this rug last spring and got so carried away hooking that I developed tennis elbow, so that had to wait. Hope to get back to it soon. Hope you are having a great weekend. See you soon.

Signs of Thanksgiving

Good Morning!  You can always tell when Thanksgiving is near. Turkeys start coming out of the woods into our backyard looking for a safe haven.  Not that we have hunters in the woods behind us but it's fun to watch these big birds. The weather is supposed to be beautiful today. Hope you have a great Sunday. Thanks for stopping by.  Jan

Early Snow Fall!

For all of us in the northeast this has been a long week. We had an unexpected snow storm that caught a lot of us unprepared. No electric service. For those of us who live in the country with wells it presents a big problem. All of a sudden you realize how spoiled we are. No tv,phone, internet but those are the little things. No grocery stores open, gas lines everywhere. It gives you time to look around and appreciate what you do have. We have damage to some of our big trees but our home is fine. Most important our family is all safe. These are a few pictures out my front door on Sunday morning after listening to trees cracking and falling all night.
Work crews came from all over the country and Canada to help clear roads and get electric lines back up. We are so grateful for there help. See you soon. Jan

Winter is early!

This week we were at the hookin in West Brookfield,Ma. My booth has the makedo chairs. They were fun to make and everyone that came into my booth had to feel of them to see how they were made. It was a great day. The food at the Salem Cross Inn was delicious as usual.   My friend Sandy of Woolen Memories had lots of beautiful wool to use in hooked rugs. I'd like one of everything!

Just a couple of pictures of our yard this afternoon.  The first snow fall of the season. It's very heavy on the trees and shrubs. The snow storm  is supposed to last all night.  Great day to stay warm inside and do some hooking and stitching. Stay Warm Jan

Fall at Last!

We've had such a busy summer. I really intended to pay more attention to this blogging. I love to read other peoples blogs. Just wonder if I really have enough to say.  I thought I'd share a few pictures of some of my projects. Right now I'm getting ready for a hook-in at the Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield Ma. A beautiful old Inn. Check it out if you have a chance.www.salemcros

We had a bear visit us recently. Tasted our crab apple tree. I'll try to include a picture of him. Posting all this is new to me.  Hope to be back soon. Take care. Jan

Welcome to Wild Raspberry Hill. The home my husband and I had built after our children were grown. It's the home I've always dreamed I would have some day. We have a few acres of land with a beautiful view of the hills of western New England. I grew up here in this area and my husband in the mid-west. I'm lucky he enjoys it here as much as I do. We have four children, all grown and making there homes near us. We get to see and hear from them very often. Our three grandchildren are such a joy to us. Our oldest is 21 and in college. He's very busy with sports, volunteer fireman, school and much more. Our granddaughter is 16 and a junior in high school. She is also very busy (and very pretty says Grammie). This summer she had company from Bavaria with the Operation Friendship group in town. They had a great time and now she skypes with them. The youngest is a 2 1/2 year old boy. He is such a gift. Makes us smile and laugh when ever we see him which is often. Lucky us!! This is just a little peak at our life. I hope to show you a few pictures as this goes along. We've had a busy summer. Getting ready for a hook-in in West Brookfield Mass. at the Salem Cross Inn. Will tell you more about that soon.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Hope to be back soon. Jan
